Victory Over My Gremlin
This might sound a bit odd to those who are not familiar about gremlins. Each of us have a gremlin. A gremlin is that narrator in our heads that keeps us from being our most positive self. He is with us every moment. He tells us who we are and interprets our experiences. He wants us to accept his interpretations as reality. Some people call him the saboteur, some refer to it as negative self-talk, and others might call it the dark evil voice in our heads.
My gremlin is giving me so many reasons to stop me from starting a blog. It’s telling me that I do not know how to write well. It’s telling me that I have to have something brilliant to say, and I have none. It’s telling me that everything has to be organized and perfect first. But I just decided to lock him up in a box right now. I don’t want to listen to him.
There are different ways to handle our gremlins so they won’t succeed in sabotaging us. First, we have to be aware that he exists and that it is him who are giving us all these negative thoughts. After I noticed that the thoughts running in my head that keeps me from creating a blog is my gremlin, I put him in a box in front of my desk and locked him up. Different people deal with their gremlins differently. For a lot of people, they visualize their gremlin and talk to them. Some people kick them out, put them in the closet, crushes them, etc. You can be as creative as you want, as long as it works for you.
I am glad that I didn’t listen to my gremlin. Fighting him is an ongoing process, but I will not give up. None of us should give up!
I will be writing periodically on living a happy, balanced and fulfilling life. I will share with you my learnings and experiences. I would love to hear your comments, suggestions, feedback and reactions. I would love to hear what works for you and what doesn’t. Together, let us trust, transform and transcend !
